Brian Ortega vs Diego Lopes Has Fight of the Year Potential at UFC303 On Saturday
INTERNATIONAL FIGHT WEEK IS HERE MY FRIENDS!
We have a damn good card to look forward to on Saturday with what I consider to be a very underrated prelims card. I have to be a fair journalist and say I'm not exactly thrilled that Macy Chiasson and Marya Bueno Silva are fighting on the main card. Really have no idea why Joe Pyfer vs MAB or Cub Swanson vs Andre Fili wasn't the choice instead but Dana is the one who's built this empire of a company so I will digress. Let's take a look at some of the really fun fights we have to look forward to on UFC 303.
Ricky Simon vs Vinicius Oliveira - This is an amazing fight to kick off the card. Wouldn't have even minded this fight on the main card so to have it as the kick off of the early prelims is really a treat. Vinicius Oliveira has a serious candidate for KO of the Year in his UFC debut with an insane flying knee KO. On the other hand Ricky Simon is a seasoned vet who's fought some of the best guys the 135 lb division has to offer. He's had some losses but only to the elite guys. Massive step up in competition for Oliveira and I think he feels it here but if he gets it done over Simon he is solidified as the real deal.
Payton Talbott vs Yanis Ghemmouri - Talbott is the Caleb Williams of the UFC. He's the new hot, young prospect who paints his fingernails black and may be categorized as a "weirdo" by your father but he's shown some legit skills in the cage. Kind of some weird matchmaking here as I feel he is fighting an inferior opponent to the one he fought in his last night but we should at least see a finish.
Charles Jourdain vs Jean Silva - This has banger written all over it. Jourdain is a vet who's fought a lot of really good guys in the UFC, has some damn good wins and seems to almost always be in exciting fights (besides when Kron Gracie forgets you can't win a fight by just laying on his back looking to pull guard). Silva is a prospect making his second UFC appearance and has big time punching power. Fun one incoming.
Cub Swanson vs Andre Fili - BANGER. Two guys on the older side that have each spent over a decade fighting in the UFC. You don't stick around that long in the biggest promotion in the sport without fighting for a belt if you aren't a big time action fighter. This should be all action for as long as it lasts.
Joe Pyfer vs Marc-Andre Barriault - Really good scrap. Pyfer has big time size and power and MAB is more of a volume and cardio type fighter. I think Pyfer probably lands a big time KO here but if he doesn't early we could see a wild second and third round. VIOLENCE!
And that's just the prelims! Great main card kicked off by Ian Garry and Michael Venom Page. Winner of that is getting a big time fight at welterweight. Diego Lopes vs Brian Ortega has fight of the night written all over it. Main event between Alex Pereira and Jiri is guaranteed violence!
